Distasio Law Firm and its personal injury lawyers in Tampa are proud to offer The Voices of Resilience: Injury Survivor Story Scholarship to support students who have faced serious injuries and continued to pursue their goals.
The new scholarship awards $2,500 to a student who shares how an injury shaped their life, strengthened their resilience, and influenced their path forward. Students have until Sept. 15, 2026, to apply.
This opportunity is open to high school seniors, undergraduate students, and graduate students of any major who have personally experienced a serious injury or its lasting effects. Applicants must be enrolled in, or planning to attend, an accredited college or university in the United States.
The Distasio Law Firm team looks forward to hearing students reflect on their journeys, the lessons they learned through hardship, and the positive impact they hope to make in the future.
Who Is Eligible for The Voices of Resilience: Injury Survivor Story Scholarship?
The Distasio Law Firm The Voices of Resilience: Injury Survivor Story Scholarship is open to any undergraduate or graduate student who meets the following criteria:
- You are enrolled in or accepted at an accredited college, university, or graduate school in the United States.
- You agree to the scholarship’s terms and conditions.
- Submit medical documentation, a physician’s note, or other official verification confirming the injury discussed in the video.
- Submit the necessary application materials.
How Do I Apply for The Voices of Resilience: Injury Survivor Story Scholarship?
Students interested in applying for the scholarship are invited to create and submit a short video addressing the scholarship’s topic. After finishing your video, upload it to YouTube as an unlisted video and include the link in your scholarship application form.
Once your video is complete, fill out the application form on this page. You should also add the URL link to your unlisted video.
The Voices of Resilience: Injury Survivor Story Scholarship Video Topic
The personal injury lawyers at Distasio Law Firm fight for damages on behalf of people working to rebuild their lives after serious injuries caused by others. We understand how quickly an injury can change everything.
To apply for the scholarship, please create a video that is three to five minutes long explaining how an injury has affected your life. Share the challenges you faced and the strength you gained along the way.
We are especially interested in how this experience shaped your educational goals and inspired you to make a positive difference—whether through advocacy, safety efforts, research, community service, healthcare, law, or another path that matters to you.
Submitting Your Video
Your submission can be simple and recorded on a phone or webcam. What matters most to the Distasio Law Firm team is your story.
Please try to record in a well-lit space and keep your phone or camera as steady as possible. Share your full name and the name of the scholarship at the beginning or end of the video, and include credits if needed.
If you use any sources or editing tools, list them in the video description. Use only copyright-free content and choose a creative, engaging title that reflects your message.
Using Additional Content in The Voices of Resilience: Injury Survivor Story Scholarship Videos
Distasio Law Firm intends to award this scholarship based on the strength of your story, not your video or editing skills. We encourage students to focus on writing and sharing a clear, meaningful message before recording.
Your story must be your own and spoken in your voice. The scholarship selection committee will not consider videos created using AI (artificial intelligence).
Students may use simple editing tools, such as Adobe Creative Cloud, to add images, short clips, or basic effects, but editing is not required.
When Is The Voices of Resilience: Injury Survivor Story Scholarship Deadline?
The deadline to apply is September 15, 2026. The scholarship selection committee will not consider any applications sent in or received after the deadline.
After the deadline, our scholarship selection committee will review all submissions. Depending on the number of applications received, the review process may take between one and three months.
We cannot accept calls, emails, or other inquiries about the scholarship beyond the information provided above. If additional information is needed, we will contact you directly.
Terms and Conditions
All scholarship applicants must meet the eligibility requirements as laid out on the scholarship application page, including:
- Applicants must be enrolled in or admitted to an accredited college, university, or graduate school.
- Applicant must be a United States citizen or otherwise authorized to work or attend school in the US.
- Applicant must be in good academic standing (3.0 GPA).
- Applicant must submit some personal information, including name, contact information, and academic information.
- Applicant must author an original video on the scholarship topic provided.
- Applicant must be an injury survivor or have experienced the long-term effects of a serious injury.
Anyone who meets the following conditions is NOT eligible to apply:
- Employees or children of employees of Distasio Law Firm
- Past recipients of The Voices of Resilience: Injury Survivor Story Scholarship
- Applicants who are unable/unwilling to be interviewed by a representative of Distasio Law Firm, if they were to be awarded a scholarship
- Applicants who submit the same video for multiple scholarships or for multiple years in a row
Selection & Award Notification Process
Age, race, religion, gender, national origin, familial status, or other protected classes will have no influence on the committee’s decision.
While we cannot answer scholarship questions from students or parents, our team will personally contact the selected recipient and work with their chosen school to send the award.
The winners of the scholarship will be notified via email, and an announcement will be made on Distasio Law Firm’s blog and via a press release.
The firm reserves the right to reach out to the winner and request more information and documentation to confirm the student’s enrollment status and academic performance.
