About Distasio Law Firm

Meet Scott Distasio

In February of 2006, Scott Distasio founded Distasio Law Firm, which focuses on all types of personal injury cases. He wanted to open a law firm that represented his belief that all firms should provide outstanding service to their clients.

Scott is a Board Certified Civil Trial Lawyer (an accomplishment achieved by less than 1% of Florida lawyers), and has tried cases of all kinds in both state and federal courts: medical malpractice, auto accidents, slip and falls, products liability, and nursing home cases. In order to be a Board Certified Civil Trial Lawyer, an attorney must pass a trial law proficiency test and have widespread trial experience. Because of this distinction, Scott is able to call himself an expert trial lawyer.

Our Philosophy

Distasio Law Firm was founded on one simple principle. Every client deserves hands on personal service from their personal injury lawyer. That’s the Distasio Personal Touch. And that’s what sets us apart.

What is the Distasio Personal Touch?

Personal touch means we will take the time to fully understand your case and go the extra mile to represent you. We recognize this is a traumatic time in your life. You or your loved one did not choose to be injured by the negligence of someone else. We cannot undo the pain and suffering you may have endured. We can however, hold the negligent party responsible for their actions. You deserve a law firm that will listen to your concerns and fight hard to make the person that did this take responsibility for the damages they have caused. We will always put your interests first. You will always be able to speak with a lawyer about your case. We will be your advisor, and your advocate. You are our top priority.

Our Promise to You

  • 1. If we agree to take your case, we will commit the financial resources and time your case deserves.

  • 2. You will always be able to speak to a personal injury lawyer about your case.

  • 3. We will always put your interests ahead of the law firm’s interests.

  • 4. In private we will advise you of the good and the bad so you fully understand all the possibilities of your case.

  • 5. In public we will advocate strongly on your behalf and never show any weakness.

  • 6. We will take your case to trial if it makes sense to do so.

AV Rated

An “AV” rating is the highest attainable ranking an attorney can achieve for ability and ethics in the practice of law. It is based on evaluations from other lawyers and judges. Scott is rated “AV” by prominent national legal publication Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory. Additionally, he is a member of “The Million Dollar Advocates Forum.” This is a group of trial lawyers who have won settlements and verdicts of a million dollars or more, and less than 1% of all lawyers are members.

Tampa Defense Background

In 1986, Scott received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Florida. In 1990, he received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he had been a member of both the Moot Court and served as Vice Chancellor of the Student Honor Court.

His legal career began in 1990 at a leading Tampa defense firm as an associate, where he defended all types of individuals and corporations accused of causing personal injuries, including doctors, jail medical providers, hospitals, and nursing homes. In 1998, he became a shareholder of the firm, and remained there until 2000, when he decided to help injured people. From January of 2000 until February of 2006, Scott helped start a distinguished plaintiff’s personal injury law firm in Tampa, where he practiced before starting Distasio Law Firm.

Scott is licensed to practice law in both Florida and Pennsylvania. He is admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Florida, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit. He’s also admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court. Additionally, he is a member of: The American Bar Association, Florida Justice Association, American Association for Justice, and the Hillsborough County Bar Association. Scott resides in a subdivision of Hillsborough County, Florida; his law practice, however, covers the entire state of Florida.
